Prince William Community Band coming to Nokesville Sunday, June 23, for |
Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and your family to enjoy a free (donations only) Prince William Community Band Concert on Sunday, June 23rd at the Nokesville Park. This event, sponsored by the Nokesville Business Association, will begin with a picnic on the lawns at the Park pavilion at 6 p.m., followed by the band’s performance at 7 p.m. The theme of the concert, "Let Freedom Ring", is guaranteed to please both the young of age and the young of heart. Plans are still underway to provide a strolling barbershop quartet to enhance your picnicking pleasure. Picnic-type food will be available for purchase, or you may bring your own.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be canceled.
Prince William Community Band, formed in 1996, is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation dedicated to providing the people of Prince William and surrounding counties the opportunity to perform or enjoy as audience members the exciting world of concert band music.
The band, led by conductor Ed Jones, fosters music education in area schools while enhancing community appreciation of the unique concert band sound and literature.
The Prince William Community Band draws to its ranks a cross-section of people--accountants, engineers, lawyers, teachers and retirees--of all ages. Most members have had significant training on their instruments through early years and high school, and some in college.
If you are an adult age 18 or older and have your own symphonic instrument, you are welcome to join them for rehearsal. They are dedicated to playing symphonic band music in a relaxed atmosphere. Members are not paid for their efforts. Instead they play for the sheer enjoyment of music! Rehearsals are every Monday evening from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the band room at Saunders Middle School, 13557 Spriggs Road, Dale City, VA. There is an immediate need for percussionists, trombones and clarinets.

We hope to see you at the Nokesville Park on June 23rd.
