New Nokesville Sign is Coming!

Scott Lewczak,
The Nokesville Business Association is expecting to have final county authorization to install the new Nokesville Sign at the entrance of Fitzwater Drive and Route 28 in May this year. In fact, by the time the newsletter is distributed, we hope to have approval and construction begun. Our original estimate to complete construction was 30 to 60 days after county approval. Tentatively we have county support to install the sign on the Route 28 right-of-way by the Nokesville Shopping Center. The NBA does not foresee any major problems at this time and has contracted with Scott Lewczak, Artworks, Inc., to build the sign.
Scott reports that he has been saving some California redwood, now nearly impossible to get, for a special project such as this and is delighted to have the opportunity to use it for the Nokesville town sign. The sign will be very similar to the design selected by local Nokesville citizens at the 2001 Nokesville Day celebration. Brentsville District High School students, along with Scott Nelson of Majestic Landscaping, will install the landscaping.
The NBA had hoped to have the sign installed and completed by Nokesville Day. That goal is now highly unlikely barring a miracle. If you don’t see the sign, drop by the NBA table on Nokesville Day to find out the latest status!
The Ruritans will be installing a flagpole on the Nokesville Shopping Center property near the new Nokesville sign. Hickerson Electric has been contracted to provide the electric hookup since the flag will fly day and night and, thus, must be lighted. Both projects will greatly enhance the entrance to Nokesville proper!
We appreciate the time and effort put in by our Nokesville businesses, the expertise right here in town that makes this possible, and the donations and patience of all who have supported this project. Thanks to all!
