New NBA President Bringing Fresh Ideas for NBA Growth
Jim Hobbs, the new NBA President, has hit the ground running, bearing fresh goals for 2003. He and the other board members were installed at the NBA holiday meeting on December 17. (Please see Holiday Meeting, story this issue.)Jim wants more participation from the current 63 members, as well as membership by 140 of the 250 to 300 Nokesville-based businesses by the end of the year. He wants those business voices to put Nokesville on the map and announce that they have the services and products that people need. In addition, the rising total membership may increase the county government’s awareness of Nokesville’s business community.
Jim said the NBA should be informative and helpful to the local businesses. That’s why, as often as possible, speakers are featured at the general meetings to share their business knowledge, experience and advice, and he will continue that practice.
He expects the NBA to work closely with the newly-formed Friends of Nokesville to make the town more attractive to businesses and, therefore, customers.
Jim also believes NBA should have a theme, like "Get to know Nokesville". That rolled off his tongue so naturally, so simply, that one might want to do just that. Businesses should work together to create banners, signs, whatever cooperation it takes to get Nokesville noticed, because every business could benefit from such exposure.
