PWC Clerk of the Court Dave Mabie is in the race for the Virginia Senate’s 29th District seat, currently held by Charles Colgan. The 29th District includes Manassas, Manassas Park and Prince William County.
As he waited for an announcement by long-time friend Colgan regarding his own plans, circumstances within the Republican party caused Dave to throw his hat into the ring earlier than he’d expected.
Dave senses a lack of trust in state officials and wants to help restore the public’s confidence. If elected, he plans to work with regional representatives to solve transportation problems, revitalize Virginia’s economy, balance the budget with no new taxes, and support the increased presence of George Mason University in PWC. State Senators serve four-year terms; new and re-elected senators begin the next term in January 2004.
Dave has a 40-year history of public service, with 30 of those in PWC. He is an Army veteran and former PWC police detective. He was assigned to the Commonwealth Attorney’s office in1981 to coordinate murder trial preparation. In 1991, Dave was elected Clerk of the Court and has since held that position. He and his wife Copper have been married for 35 years and have three children, two grandchildren.
